Job Description

The Managed Services Lead is responsible and accountable for the ongoing profitability of the managed services contracts, running the managed services team of full time and seconded colleagues to ensure that our commitments to the client are met. This leadership role is also involved in the sales of new managed services opportunities outside of the project pipeline, working with the sales and marketing team. This will be through their own network or generated from the sales team. They will work to ensure a successful sale and transition the new clients in to the managed services operation.


  • Run the managed services team to ensure profitability against the contracts
  • Ensure excellent service is provided to all managed services clients
  • Engage in regular client reviews to ensure we are meeting expectations
  • Lead the transition of new clients in to managed services
  • Ensure sufficient resources are assigned to fulfil our obligations
  • Lead improvement to our ITIL based framework for good practice managed services operation
  • Develop business plan for growth of the managed services capability
  • Review managed services contracts during sales cycle to ensure we can deliver
  • Engage with clients in pre-sales for project and managed services work
  • Seek opportunities to sell managed services consultancy to clients
  • Lead the managed services team and drive their professional development
  • Define training needs within the team and coach other team members
  • Identify development activities and help in defining how these will be delivered
  • Define and track objectives for the managed services team
  • Identify risks and mitigate or communicate as necessary

Required Skills / Experience

  • ITIL certified practitioner to Managing Professional level
  • ITIL service delivery
  • Leading a team, providing mentorship and ensuring professional development
  • Excellent presentation and demonstration skills
  • Defining business process maps and working with technical team to implement
  • 5+ years in managed services delivery
  • 2+ years of managed services team management
  • Demonstrable experience in development and realisation of a managed services strategy
  • Track record of delivering managed services in a variety of organisations
  • Commercial experience in sales and delivery of managed services
  • Commercial understanding of contracts
  • Senior stakeholder management
  • Experience in the implementation and support of Microsoft business applications
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Working with remote teams
